General:
Materials for the Big Day
- At least three (the more, the better) sharpened pencils.
- An eraser--the big kind, not the dinky ones on the ends of pencils.
- A calculator that you're comfortable using. According to the official Mathcounts rules, "Where calculators are permitted, students may use any calculator that does not contain a QWERTY (i.e., typewriter‑like) keypad. Calculators that have the ability to enter letters of the alphabet but do not have a keypad in a standard typewriter arrangement are acceptable."
P.S. Check your batteries!
- A backup calculator, in the unlikely event that your main calculator malfunctions.
- A watch, so that you can pace yourself.
- A map to the testing location, for whoever is driving you there.
- Something fun, so that you have something to do between rounds other than panicking. A deck of cards proved to be a great bonding tool between our school's team and other schools'.
- Your brain, alert and fully charged!
